Ballinora (Irish: Baile Nóra - townland of gold) is a small rural parish[1] near Cork city and Ballincollig in County Cork, Ireland. The area is notable for its education facilities, and its sporting clubs. The parish includes the village of Waterfall.

Sport

Ballinora GAA

Ballinora GAA was founded in 1924. Its club colours are green and red. The club plays in the Muskerry division of Cork GAA. Ballinora GAA currently has two sports grounds; Ballinora GAA Pitch (adjacent to the school), and Ballymaw (a rented farmers field) Ballinora's main sport is gaelic football but other sports including hurling and Camogie is also played. Ballymah is under development as of present. The club participates in the Junior A Hurling Championship and the Premier Intermediate Football Championship.

Richmond FC

Founded in 1980, Richmond FC is the local soccer club. With membership of over 200, the club caters for both boys and girls from 7 years to adult.

Now progressing as a truly exceptional club with great footballers both strong physically and in the mind. A great club progressing majorly with strong players. Former Republic of Ireland soccer international, Alan Bennett began his football career with the club.

The club owns two pitches, Ballyhank pitch in Waterfall and Garranedarra in Bishopstown.

Religion

Ballinora's Parish church is St. James' Church (The patron saint of Ballinora[2]). The Parish Priest is Canon Dónal Lenihan. In 2009, the church underwent a major renovation. It is now fully renovated and it is a beautiful church with gorgeous interior.

Ballinora is the birthplace of Bishop Lucey.
