The Bank of the Metropolis building is located at 31 Union Square West in Manhattan, New York City. It was designed by Bruce Price, an architect particularly attached to designing skyscrapers in three parts, mirroring the structure of classical columns, and the building reflects this base-shaft-capital concept.[2] The facade of the Renaissance revival building, which was built from 1902-1903, is limestone.[2] It was constructed as the headquarters for the Bank of the Metropolis, which was founded in 1871 and was bought up by the Bank of Manhattan, in 1918. The building was converted for residential use in 1975.

The Bank of the Metropolis building was designated a New York City landmark in 1988, and was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2003. The former bank offices are now a restaurant, the Blue Water Grill.[3]
