Bath High School is a public high school located near Lima, Ohio in Allen County. It is the only high school in the Bath Local School District.

Organizations

School organizations at Bath include: Band, Symphonic Band, Choir, FCA, National Honors Society, Quiz Bowl, Science Fair, Math Counts, SADD, SHINE, SEAC, Varsity B, PawPrint Newspaper, Science Olympiad, Student Council, and Yearbook editors.[2]

The Paw Print Newspaper

The Paw Print is the official newspaper publication for the High School. The newspaper was founded in 2008. The newspaper is an elective and is taken as a computer class. To be on the newspaper staff, a student must be an upper classmen, fill out an application sheet and go through a lengthy interview process. The newspaper covers world news, local news, professional sporting events, school sporting events, entertainment news, polls, weather, and even a game section. Each year the newspaper selects several students to be the head editor, assistant editor, sports editor, entertainment editor, and graphics editor. These students essentially run and manage the newspaper. The newspaper sells usually every other Friday and on special holidays. Price of the newspaper is one quarter or as the writers on the newspaper would call it "1/4 a spooky dollar." The newspaper is currently headed by computer teacher Joe Gomez. Mr. Gomez is also in charge of the schools online newspaper. This online newspaper has been recognized numerous times for having some of the most read articles for a high school newspaper.

S.H.IN.E

Students Helping IN Education (S.H.IN.E) is a high school club that allows Bath High School students to assist elementary school teachers in daily chores and assignments. SHINE is a club that allows students that maybe interested in an educational career someday see what it is like to help small children learn. Students arrive early to school Tuesdays and Thursdays and are assigned to a teachers classroom. The teachers then assign the students small educational assignments to do with the children. These assignments help with reading and writing skills.

Student Council

The Bath High School Student Council is an organization that represents student government within the school. Elections are held each year. To enter into the election, a student must fill out an application and must also receive a certain number of signatures from their own classmates. After they turn in the application, their name is put on the ballot. The number of representatives from each class are based on the class size. The freshman and sophomore class have only representatives. The junior class has a President and Vice President along with representatives. The senior class has representatives, a Treasurer, a Secretary, Vice President and President. Student Council is in charge of several school events. They have several charity events such as a Christmas basket give away and a grandparents breakfast. The two most important events that the organization is in charge of is Homecoming and Prom. The organizations decides on things like theme, location, and admission prices. The group is also in charge of the set up and clean up of these events.

Athletics

The school's mascot is a wildcat for boys' sports, and a wildkitten for girls'. They are members of the Western Buckeye League.

Recognition

U.S. News & World Report awarded Bath High School a bronze award for their America's Best High Schools 2009 rankings.[6] They were the only high school in Allen County to be recognized.[7]
