Futa Nakamura (中村蓋 Nakamura Futa?, born October 19, 1991) is a Japanese professional wrestler, better known by his ring name Ben–K (ベン–K Ben–K?), trained by and signed to Dragon Gate. Nakamura's ring name is a play on the Japanese word benkei (弁慶?), meaning "powerful person".

Professional wrestling career

Nakamura initially began training in the Dragon Gate dojo in 2015, and eventually made his debut in early 2016, competing in a series of dark matches against fellow rookies Shun Watanabe and Katsumi Takashima.[2][3] His first televised match came on April 22nd at Dragon Gate Nex Sanctuary.141, where he lost to T-Hawk.[4] Throughout the month of May, Nakamura continued to compete in dark matches, and once again wrestled on television on May 23, losing to Big R Shimizu.[5] On June 26, he teamed with The Jimmyz (Genki Horiguchi H.A.Gee.Mee!! and Ryo "Jimmy" Saito" to defeat the Over Generation (Don Fujii, Masaaki Mochizuki and Kaito Ishida.[6] Nakamura made his pay-per-view debut on July 22, 2016, once again teaming with the Jimmy's (Horiguchi, Saito and Jimmy K–Ness JKS) in a loss to Big R Shimizu, Shachihoko Boy, Stalker Ichikawa and U-T.[7] Throughout August 2016, Nakamura took part in the 2016 Summer Adventure Tag League, teaming with Masaaki Mochizuki. The duo forfeited their first three matches, with Nakamura being unable to compete after an attack from VerserK on the first day. They went on to compete in two matches, losing both, and finishing the tournament with zero wins and zero points.[8] On November 3, Nakamura earned the biggest victory of his career up until that point, teaming with fellow rookies Shun and Hyo Watanabe to defeat the Over Generation (Punch Tominaga, Takehiro Yamamura and Kaito Ishida).[8]

Ben-K (2016-present)

On November 11, Nakamura changed his ring name to Ben–K (ベン-K Ben-K?), a play on the Japanese word benkei (弁慶?), meaning "powerful person". Soon after changing his ring name, he was challenged, along with Hyo Watanabe, Shun Skywalker, Katsumi Takashima, and Yuki Yoshioka to a special ten man veterans vs rookies match by Cima. On December 1st, Ben–K's team was defeated by Cima, Dragon Kid, Gamma, Don Fujii and Masaaki Mochizuki.[9] In December, he began to form somewhat of an alliance with Masato Yoshino, and on December 25, received his first championship opportunity when he teamed with Yoshino and Kotoka to unsuccessfully challenge the Jimmyz (Jimmy Kanda, Jimmy Susumu and Ryo "Jimmy" Saito) for the Open the Triangle Gate Championship in a triple threat match also featuring VerserK (El Lindaman, Cyber Kong and Mondai Ryu).[10] On January 18, 2017, Yoshino, Kotoka and Ben–K took part in a one night New Year Unit Six Man Tag Tournament, making it to the finals where they lost to VerserK (Lindaman, T-Hawk and Shingo Takagi).[11] After the match, Ben–K, Yoshino and Kotoka were continuously attacked by VerserK, until Dr Muscle came down to the ring to save them, eventually removing his mask and revealing himself to be Naruki Doi, who aligned himself with the trio in the fight against VerserK.
