Blagoveshchensky District (Russian: Благове́щенский райо́н) is an administrative[1] and municipal[3] district (raion), one of the fifty-nine in Altai Krai, Russia. It is located in the west of the krai. The area of the district is 3,700 square kilometers (1,400 sq mi).[citation needed] Its administrative center is the urban locality (a work settlement) of Blagoveshchenka.[1] Population: 30,783 (2010 Census);[4] 34,878 (2002 Census);[7] 44,849 (1989 Census).[8] The population of Blagoveshchenka accounts for 37.8% of the district's total population.[4]
