Description

The garden was established in 1972. It includes an additional 128 hectares of land dedicated to conservation. The garden is 1000 m above sea level, and it specializes in cool-climate plants that would not grow well in Sydney's warmer conditions. The gardens are managed by the Botanic Gardens Trust, a division of the New South Wales Department of Environment and Climate Change. The garden was originally known as the Mount Tomah Botanical Garden, but the name was later changed to Blue Mountains Botanic Garden.
