Overview

Boden Joseph "Bo" Hanson (born 7 August 1973 in Port Kembla, New South Wales, Australia) is a four times Australian Olympic Rowing Representative, three times Olympic Medalist, Specialist Coaching Consultant, and Corporate Training Consultant and Presenter. [1] Competing at the 1992, 1996, 2000 and 2004 Olympic Games, Bo won his three Bronze Medals at the Atlanta (1996), Sydney (2000) and Athens (2004) Games [1][2] With the learning experiences gained at the Olympics as well as formal university education, and training and development qualifications, Bo's Professional Career has included founding Athlete Assessments in 2007 with colleagues, and Team8 which continues to present to a variety of audiences for Corporate Consultation.[1][3]

Sporting career

At the Barcelona Olympics in 1992, Bo Hanson made his Olympic debut for Australia becoming the youngest-ever rowing Olympian for Australia. [2][3] At the 1996 Atlanta Olympics, Bo competed in his second Olympic Games, winning his first Bronze Medal in the quadruple sculls . [2] After switching to Men's Coxless Fours for the Sydney 2000 Games, Bo won his second Bronze Medal.[4] In the 2004 Athens Olympics, Bo won his third Bronze Medal competing in the Men's Coxed Eights.[4]
During the later stages of his career, Bo attempted to understand how his behavior related to his training, racing and performance results.[1] Bo then learnt about the DISC behavioral theory, the Myers Briggs Personality Type Indicator, Emotional Intelligence and Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP).[1] Particularly thanks to DISC behavioral profiling, Bo found his last years of Rowing to be much more enjoyable and successful .[1]

Athlete Assessments

With the learning experiences gained at the Olympics as well as formal university education, and training and development qualifications, Bo began his Professional Career.[1] Together with a team of passionate experts including sports coaches, IT developers and other DISC accredited professionals, Bo developed AthleteDISC, and created his company Athlete Assessments in 2007.[1] In doing this, Bo and his team gave athletes around the world the first sports version of DISC theory and behavior profiling.[1] Because athletes and coaches have different needs, CoachDISC, a similar tool specifically for sports coaches, followed in early 2009.[1] After many requests from clients, in early 2011 the ManagerDISC was launched as the latest professional development tool specifically for sports managers and administrators.[1] Assessments has created the first online sports-specific behavioral profiling tools for athletes, sports teams and coaches.[1] Today Bo is highly educated and accredited in the use and administration of the Myers Briggs Personality Type Indicator, DISC Profiling and Emotional Intelligence (Emotional Competence Inventory 360).[1]

Team 8

With the company Team8, Bo has been training and presenting to premier companies such as American Express, Bain Consulting, Commonwealth Bank, ANZ, Macquarie Bank, Insurance Australia Group, Telstra and many others.[1][3] Drawing on over 14 years of experience in the corporate world, Bo's presentations include leadership development and all aspects of teamwork, such as goal setting, team attitudes and communication.[1][3] Bo draws unique parallels between the world of elite sport and high performance business. [1][3]
