Braccagni (Italian: [brakˈkaɲɲi]) is a modern frazione of the comune of Grosseto, positioned in the northern part of the communal territory, at the bottom of the hill of Montepescali.

Overview

Once being simply an appendix of the frazione of Montepescali, today Braccagni is seen more independently as it is believed to be the nodal point of the economy of the area. The railway station, the Aurelia, many activities which have developed in the last few years, new habitations, these have all created its new identity as a modern town, in continuous evolution.

The yearly Fiera del Madonnino (30th edition in 2008) is a demonstration of how Braccagni is revealing itself as a modern centre which, through work, has been able to achieve a precise physiognomy thanks also to the work of its inhabitants.

Through initiatives such as the magazine of folk traditions La Sentinella del Braccagni or as the Festival del Maggio (held every first of May), Braccagnini (inhabitants of Braccagni) were able to revive in culture a suburban town.

Main sights

  • The most important architectural complex is the Church of San Guglielmo d'Aquitania: inside some remains of the saint have been conserved.
  • In the country west of Braccagni the rural complex of the Fattoria degli Aquisti, with the chapel of Sant'Umberto, is found.
