Brumado

Brumado is a municipality of Bahia State, in Brazil. It was founded on June 11, 1877. The population is 69,255, and the name for residents is Brumadense.[1] The city is known as the Ore Capital, it is because the extraction of minerals. Brumado is near the Chapada Diamantina and close to areas of great natural beauty.[2]

Vegetation and ecosystem

Brumado has a large biodiversity, both plant and animal specimens ranging from small to medium-sized animals, some of which are threatened with extinction. The local fauna is composed mainly of animals adapted to the savanna vegetation that is characteristic of the region, but the municipality has little islands of forest, small localized often called riparian, margins of rivers and streams in the region. In the biodiversity, some animals end up most often with their natural habitat threatened by miners, ranchers and hunters, who seek territorial expansion, exploitation of natural resources and also the illegal trade in animals, thereby eventually causing a rampant predatory activity and without any control with respect the ecological imbalance that this action may cause.

The municipality has a characteristic vegetation of scrub, riparian forest (vegetation typical of small tropical forest situated on the banks of rivers and streams of the region) and also isolated parts of dense forest called "general" in regions high in the city mainly from Sierra of mares. It is noteworthy that the plant species present in the region covering several groups and you can find copies of any size.

There are problems: the indiscriminate deforestation for charcoal production 3273 meters cubic, used for trade and to meet the pole ceramist, and clearing forests and vegetation for the livestock and to open mines triggered by some mining sites, but it is noteworthy that there are those who perform the appropriate reforestation aiming not reach the sources present in the mountains.[3]

Brumado has several sources such as Bate Creek Foot, Creek Coité which rises in the Serra das Mares, which are called the interior marshes (an upwelling of groundwater in the region).

Relief

Studies involving the narrative of the geological history of a continent like South America based on the determination of ages of rocks and minerals, a branch called isotopic geochemistry geochronology. The longevity of the rocks is very varied. The oldest rock formations of the South American continent, at the age of 3.5 billion years, are in the state of Bahia, in the municipalities of the Brumado Vitória da Conquista.

Economy

According to data from SEI / IBGE, the city's GDP for 2003 was R $306.18 million, 5.04% for agriculture, 52.31% to 46.24% for industry and services.
