Burleson High School is a four-year public high school consisting of grades 9–12 located in Burleson, in the U.S. state of Texas, and is part of the Burleson Independent School District.

History

In 1901, Burleson's first school, the Red Oak Academy, was constructed. It was destroyed by fire in 1909. The State of Texas granted a charter for an independent school district, and the citizens of Burleson voted to construct a new school. By 1910 the new school was opened, on what is now the old Nola Dunn Campus. The school was later torn down and a new high school was constructed in the 1960s. In 1997, a new, larger campus was built for the high school. It was built at 100 John Jones Road, but the street name later changed to Elk Drive.

Media

Elk TV first aired in the 2005–2006 school year, with its original title being Friday Morning Live or FML. It is the school's weekly news program, written, directed and edited by the students in the broadcast journalism Elk TV Staff Class, but was originally a combined effort of the Media Technology class and Broadcast Journalism team. During the 2013-2014 school year, the program began to drift away from the news show format. It developed into a sketch based, comedy program, while still retaining the four core segments(News, Sports, Current Events, and Weather). Halfway through the year, Current Events was cancelled and substituted. By the year's end, Weather was also discontinued. The following year saw the show's second title change. Elk TV became the official class program's title, while the produced show's name became inVision. With this year, the sketch comedy format was fully embraced and new recurring segments were made, having News and Sports being the only segments carried over through the change in direction. The program is foreseen to continue under this format.

Airing all the Burleson High School football games is 1460 AM radio.
