Fondation nationale des sciences politiques (English: National Foundation of Political Science), or FNSP, was created by ordinance of Charles de Gaulle in 1945 to manage the transition of École Libre des Sciences Politiques into Institut d'études politiques de Paris or IEP Paris (Paris Institute of Political Studies)

The mission of the FNSP was then and is today the management of the IEP Paris through the preservation of its buildings, library and research centres, and its decision-making bodies. The FNSP is both the managing body of the IEP Paris, and the central research arm of that school. Along with the IEP Paris, it is the direct descendant of the teaching and research facilities previously vested in the Ecole libre des sciences politiques. It is an institution of private law, despite its prominence as the hub of political science research in France. The epithet Sciences Po includes the FNSP as well as the IEP Paris.

The CEVIPOF is the research centre for Political research of the FNSP.

The current chairman of the FNSP is Jean-Claude Casanova who replaced René Rémond on January 30, 2007, and the Chief Administrator is Frédéric Mion, who is also the Director of the Institut d'études politiques de Paris.
