The district straddles the intersection of three counties and several distinct regions. The northern Los Angeles County portion includes the southeastern San Gabriel Valley, the eastern San Bernardino County consists the northernmost part of the Santa Ana Mountains, and the southern Orange County is marked by canyons. The district is relatively affluent and primarily suburban.
