Ctenosaura alfredschmidti, commonly known as the Campeche spiny-tailed iguana, is a species of lizard in the Iguanidae family.
Etymology
The specific name, alfredschmidti, is in honor of German herpetoculturist Alfred Schmidt.[1]
Geographic range
It is endemic to southern Campeche in Mexico. However, in the field year of 2005, this species was also recorded by a scientific expedition to the Rio Azul National Park in the Petén Department in Northern Guatemala. This was the first record in Guatemala's Herpetofauna for this species.
Habitat
Its natural habitat is subtropical or tropical moist lowland forests.
Conservation status
It is threatened by habitat loss.
