Caroline Russell is a British Green Party politician and activist. Since May 2016, she has been a Member of the London Assembly.[1]

Early life and education

Russell studied Civil Engineering at City University London, graduating with a Bachelor of Engineering (BEng) degree, and Fine Art at Goldsmiths, University of London, graduating with a Master of Arts (MA) degree.[2]

Political career

Russell is the national transport spokesperson for the Green Party.[3]

On 22 May 2014, Russell was elected a councillor for the Highbury East Ward of Islington London Borough Council.[4] She is the only non-Labour member of the council and so forms a single-person opposition.[5][6]

In May 2015 Russell stood against Jeremy Corbyn in the 2015 general election for Islington North. She came third receiving 5,043 votes constituting 10.2% of the votes cast.[7]

On 5 May 2016, Russell was elected a Member of the London Assembly. She had stood as a Green Party candidate on the London-wide list.[1]
