Ashoka Innovators for the Public opened its Country office in Bangladesh in 1989. In 1987, Ibrahim Sobhan became the first Fellow from Bangladesh. Since then there have been more than 65 Ashoka Fellows elected from Bangladesh. Some of them are Muhammad Yunus Fazle Hasan Abed Monajatuddin, Shykh Seraj Ananya Raihan, Hosne Ara Begum, Laila Arjumand Banu etc.

Currently Ashoka Bangladesh continues to elect outstanding Social Entrepreneurs in Bangladesh. The country office is also developing the Program - "Transforming Youth Years" which includes a National network of Changemaker Schools and Changemaker Campus (Universities).
