The main Pokémon RPGs are usually titled "Pokémon *a denomination according to the characteristics of the version mascot*". They are normally released with 2 versions (Example: Pokémon Red and Pokémon Blue). After that there is a 3rd version to go with the first 2 (Example: Pokémon Yellow: Special Pikachu Edition). Pokémon Red and Pokémon Blue are the first of the two games to have additional remakes. Pokémon FireRed and Pokémon LeafGreen are remakes of Pokémon Red and Pokémon Blue. Pokémon Gold and Pokémon Silver have also been remade, called Pokémon HeartGold and Pokémon SoulSilver. More recently, Pokémon Ruby and Pokémon Sapphire had been remade, being their newest versions Pokémon Omega Ruby and Pokémon Alpha Sapphire.

Spinoff Pokémon RPGs have been made as well.
