Members of Motown Records group The Miracles. The Miracles were the Motown Record Corporation's first group, and its first million-selling recording artists. Their origins stem from as far back as the year 1955 and their affiliation with Motown founder Berry Gordy from before the formation of Motown Records itself. The Miracles' success paved the way for all future Motown stars.Indeed, according to Gordy, without The Miracles, the Motown Record Corporation would not have been possible. [1]

The Miracles were finally inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2012, with the exception of lead singer Smokey Robinson, who was controversially inducted solo in 1987, and Billy Griffin, Robinson's replacement, who, in another note of controversy, was excluded from the 2012 induction altogether for unknown reasons.

The Miracles were awarded the Pioneer Award from the Rhythm & Blues Foundation in 1999, inducted into the Vocal Group Hall of Fame in 2001 , awarded a star on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame in 2009 [2][3], and were inducted into the Doo-Wop Hall of Fame in 2011.They are also 4-time inductees into the Grammy Hall of Fame ,and were listed among the Top 100 Artists of All Time by VH-1 (1998), Rolling Stone, and Billboard Magazine. The Miracles are also BMI and ASCAP award-winning songwriters ,were inducted into the Rhythm and Blues Music Hall of Fame in 2015, and have the distinction of having more of their songs covered and sampled by other artists than any other Motown group.[4]
