Cerro del Villar is a Phoenician city founded in the ninth century,[1] and abandoned possibly in 584 BC.[2] Since 2003 there aren't any excavations, which was directed by María Eugenia Aubet.[3][4] It is located in the mouth of Guadalhorce river.[5]
It was declared Bien de Interés Cultural on 9 June 1998.[6]
