The Children's Museum of Science and Technology (CMOST) is a science museum for children in Troy, New York operated by the College of Nanoscale Science and Engineering at SUNY Polytechnic Institute. The museum has various exhibits, including a digital planetarium (showing various films including Molecularium) and almost 100 living animals.[2] The museum does not admit adults unless accompanied by children.[3]

History

The museum opened as The Junior Museum in 1954, a museum containing hands-on exhibits for children housed in the basement of the Rensselaer Historical Society.[1] The museum relocated three times until it finally moved to the Rensselaer Technology Park and re-branded as the Children’s Museum of Science and Technology. In an announcement in 2013, the museum announced a partnership with SUNY Poly CNSE and re-branded again as CNSE CMOST. In October 2015, the museum announced it will relocate to the SUNY Poly CNSE campus in Albany under a $100 million expansion.[4]
