Christopher J. Marut is an American diplomat who last served as the director of American Institute in Taiwan.[1]

Marut entered foreign service in 1994. He served in US Embassy in China, US Consulate-General in Hong Kong, US Embassy in Malayia and American instutite in Taiwan. He served as deputy consul-general in Hong Kong and Macau during 2007 and 2012. He served as interim consul general during 2009 and 2010 before a permanent appointment was made.

He succeeded William Stanton as the Director for American Institute in Taiwan, de facto Embassy of the United States in Taiwan.[2] On 3 June 2015, he received Order of Brilliant Starfrom president Ma Ying-jeou of Taiwan.
