The Clugston Group is a privately owned business involved in construction and civil engineering, property development and distribution. The group is based in Scunthorpe, North Lincolnshire in England.

History

The Company was founded by LG Clugston in 1937 on Humberside as Clugston Cawood. Initially it pioneered the development and use of recycled blast furnace slag from Scunthorpe’s iron and steel plants. This was used in the construction of RAF runways in World War II and led the company into civil engineering, road construction and the building of sea defences on the east coast.

In 1999 the Company acquired Ferro Monk Limited, a company specialising in sewer relining & refurbishment.[1]

In 2009 the company CEO Stephen Martin went 'undercover' at the company for the Channel 4 television series The Undercover Boss.[2] Mr Martin described the experience as extremely positive and has implemented a number of new measures as a result of the show.[3]

Operations

The Company is organised into five divisions:[4]

  • Construction
  • Ferro Monk Systems
  • Distribution services
  • Estates
  • Private Finance
