Colin Williams (priest)
Colin Henry Williams (born 12 August 1952) was Archdeacon of Lancaster from 1999 to 2005.[1] He is now an Archdeacon in the Diocese in Europe.
Williams was educated at King George V Grammar School for Boys, Southport, and Pembroke College, Oxford. After an earlier career as a solicitor he was ordained in 1982. After a curacy at St Paul's Stoneycroft, Liverpool, he was team vicar in Walton from 1984 to 1989; domestic chaplain to the Bishop of Blackburn from 1989 to 1994; and vicar of St Chad's Poulton-le-Fylde from 1994 to 1999 before his appointment as archdeacon;[2] and General Secretary to the Conference of European Churches from 2005 to 2010.[3] Since then he has been team rector of Ludlow[4]
On 24 May 2015, it was announced that Williams would become the first full-time Archdeacon in the Diocese in Europe from October 2015, being in charge of both the Eastern archdeaconry and that of Germany and Northern Europe and based in Frankfurt, Germany.[5] Historically Archdeacons in Europe have had other parochial duties in addition to their work as Archdeacons.
