Columbus Hotel Monaco is a luxury 4-star hotel located at 23, avenue des Papalins in the Fontvieille area of western Monaco. It was created by award wining scottish hotelier Ken McCulloch in partnership with Formula One racing car driver David Coulthard [1][2] until McCulloch sold his shares in 2008 to concentrate in developing his Dakota hotels in the UK. Coulthard sold out to London and Regional Properties in April 2010.[3] The hotel was opened on April 21, 2001 by Rainier III, Prince of Monaco.
The interior of the hotel was originally designed by international designer Amanda Rosa (Ken McCulloch's wife)[4] in the Italian Riviera style with light colour palettes and natural furnishings of leather, marble, wood and stone.[5][6]The hotel has 174 rooms and 18 suites and several restaurants.[6]
The hotel and Coulthard featured in an episode of Piers Morgan's travelogue series Piers Morgan on... looking at Monaco.
