Cosmin Matei (born 30 September 1991 in Târgovişte) is a Romanian professional footballer who plays for Greek club Atromitos as a midfielder.

Club career

Farul

Matei made his Liga I debut on October 18, 2008, in a game against Politehnica Timişoara.[1] On July 2010, Matei was sold to Steaua Bucureşti.

Steaua

On 22 August 2010 he makes his debut for Steaua in Liga I against FC Vaslui, coming on in the 85th minute to replace Romeo Surdu. Steaua won away with 3–0. On 4 September 2010, he makes debut for Steaua second team in Liga II, against Juventus Bucureşti, he was substitute in 17th minute after an injury, Steaua II won with 1–0.

Astra

On June 2011, Matei was sold to Astra Ploieşti.[2] Although he did not manage to make an impact at Steaua and Astra, Dinamo spotted his talent.[3]

Dinamo

On January 2012, Matei put pen to paper for a five-year contract with Dinamo București.[4] Matei scored his first goal for Dinamo in a game against U Cluj, on 2 May 2012.

Atromitos

Atromitos officially announced the bargain of Romanian attacking midfielder from Dinamo București, for an estimated amount of €100.000. The 24-year-old international passed medical examinations earlier and signed a contract until the summer of 2018, for an undisclosed fee.[5]

National team

Matei made his debut for the national team in a friendly game against Albania, played at a neutral venue, in Switzerland, in May 2014.
