Cyrus the Great Day or Cyrus Day, روز کوروش October 29 (7th of Aban آبان) is the anniversary of the entrance of Cyrus into Babylon. It is named the day of Cyrus The Great by "Save Pasargard" Institute,[1] but is not registered in any national or international calendar. Cyrus the Great was the first King of Persia, who declared the first charter of human rights in the world, also known as the Cyrus Cylinder.[2]

In October 539 BCE, the Persian king Cyrus took Babylon, the ancient capital of an oriental empire covering modern Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, and Palestine (mainly these countries and the region including them as well as Jordan historically called and known as Sham). Several texts describe this event.[3] In the Nabonidus Chronicle, for instance, is written that in the month of Arahsamna, the third day (29 October), Cyrus entered Babylon.[4]

The day is celebrated, especially by Iranian communities, in different countries such as Iran, the United States and the United Kingdom. It was, for instance, celebrated in the city of Cambridge in 2009 and 2010.[5]
