Daman (Arabic: ضمان) (الشركة الوطنية للضمان الصحي) - is a non-life insurance conventional health insurance government-affiliated company in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. It started operations in May 2006, with over 1000 employees. Mohammed Sultan bin Ghanoum Al Hameli - [1] is the chairman and Dr. Michael Bitzer is the CEO of Daman.

Daman offers a range of health insurance plans with added benefits, extended policy limits and wider geographical coverage.

Daman is a public joint-stock company that is 80% owned by the Abu Dhabi Government with the remaining 20% owned by Munich Re.

With the highest market share in Abu Dhabi, Daman covers more than 2,600,000 members - [2] as of February 2015.[citation needed]

Plans

As health insurance is mandatory for all residents in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, HAAD - Health Authority of Abu Dhabi offers a basic coverage plan also known as Abu Dhabi Basic Plan which is managed by Daman. Along with managing this plan, Daman has a wide range of health insurance plans.

Provider Network

Daman has contracted over 2,000 providers in the UAE with direct billing services in United Arab Emirates.[citation needed]

Thiqa Scheme

Thiqa is a health scheme for UAE Nationals and those of similar status in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi as per the resolution no. (83) of 2007. By February 2012 more than 630,000 UAE Nationals had enrolled in the Thiqa program since its inception in June 2008.[citation needed]

Daman Online Services

Daman launched its online portal in an initiative called e-Daman which aims to provide all health insurance related services online including paper-less claims submission, online endorsements, online quote request, online policy renewals and an online tool where users can search, receive driving directions for and rate different providers.
