Dan Shamir (born 2 February 1975) is an Israeli basketball coach who currently serves as the head coach of Hapoel Holon of the Israeli Basketball Premier League.

Early life

In his youth Shamir was a basketball player. He played for Maccabi Jerusalem youth team as a Point guard, but later on, at the age of 17, Shamir started his coaching career at Hapoel Jerusalem youth program.

Coaching Career

In 2002, Shamir was appointed as an assistant coach of Hapoel Jerusalem under Yoram Harush and Erez Edelstein.

In 2003, Shamir was appointed as an assistant coach of Maccabi Tel Aviv under Pini Gershon, during that time he won two Euroleague titles with the team.

In 2006, Shamir was appointed as the head coach of Hapoel Jerusalem, during that time he won two Israeli Cup titles. In 2008, after several losses in the Israeli Premier League, he parted ways with the team.

In 2008, Shamir was appointed as an assistant coach of Dynamo Moscow under David Blatt.

In 2009, Shamir was appointed as the head coach of Bnei Hasharon.

In 2011, Shamir was appointed as the head coach of Hapoel Holon.

On June 26, 2013, Shamir was appointed as an assistant coach of CSKA Moscow under Ettore Messina [1], during that time the team have won the VTB United League title and reached the Euroleague final-four.

On June 24, 2014, Shamir was appointed as the head coach of Hapoel Eilat. [2]

In 2015, Shamir was appointed as the head coach of Hapoel Holon once again. On March 5, 2017, Shamir signed a two-year contract extension with Holon. [3]
