Dayle Hinman (born September 21, 1952) is a retired FBI-trained criminal profiler. She has starred in a television series on TruTV (formerly known as CourtTV), Body of Evidence: From the case files of Dayle Hinman, documenting some of the cases she was assigned to while working as a Special Agent at the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE), since December 2002. Twelve of the episodes were packaged as a DVD "The Best of Court TV: Body of Evidence".[1]

Early life

Born in Connecticut, Hinman's family moved to Palm Beach Gardens, Florida in 1961, where she graduated from Palm Beach Gardens High School. She has an older sister, Wendy, and two younger brothers, Eric and Jeff.

Law enforcement training

Hinman holds a bachelor's degree from Florida State University in criminology. She had a one-year fellowship at the FBI Behaviorial Sciences unit and was one of the first people there to be trained in forensic profiling under John E. Douglas.[2]

Law enforcement career

Hinman's law enforcement career began in 1975 and spanned 26 years, including stints at Florida State University, Leon County, Florida, and the FDLE. She was one of only a handful of female criminal profilers.[3]

Notable cases

She has worked on several high-profile cases, including those of Ted Bundy, O.J. Simpson, and Aileen Wuornos.[3]
