The Diocese of Syracuse is a Catholic diocese headquartered in Syracuse, New York, USA. The current bishop is the Most Rev. Robert J. Cunningham. The Diocese of Syracuse includes 350,000 Catholics residing in seven counties of Central and South Central New York State. These are Broome, Chenango, Cortland, Madison, Oneida, Onondaga and Oswego.

The diocese has 142 parishes, 11 missions and 3 devotional chapels. There are 3 Catholic Hospitals in the diocese. There are 5 diocesan Junior / Senior high schools and 23 diocesan elementary schools. The diocese has 264 offices (including schools) and employs 3,000 people.

Escutcheon
The diocesan arms consists of a blue field with a gold (yellow) Latin cross. Entwined about the lower arm of the cross is a silver (white) dolphin. To the upper left (chief dexter) is a silver (white) crescent.
Symbolism
The blue field with a gold (yellow) Latin cross, is of The Faith throughout sunburst. Dolphin which was the emblem on the coin of the chief Greek city, Syracuse, of ancient Sicily. Crescent is to honor the Blessed Virgin Mary in her title of the Immaculate Conception, patroness of the United States.
