  6. Nationally, the Peroutka/Baldwin ballot (144,292 votes) received 33% more votes than Howard Phillips did in 2000. This came during an election when the Green Party vote (119,852 votes) declined by 83% and the Libertarian Party vote for Badnarik/Campagna (397,367 votes) was essentially flat compared to the 2000 election - making it the only national third party to increase its share of the vote. Pat Buchanan's absence from the race as a candidate may have contributed in large part to the increase in the Constitution vote in 2004.

  10. Only 4,157 votes were cast for him as the Constitution Party candidate with the remainder (over 90%) being cast for him as the Republican candidate.
  11. This is the largest write-in total for a third party candidate in Illinois history.
  12. The IAP only had 44,000 registered voters at that time.
