Tim Wu (born November 10th, 1989), better known by his stage name Elephante, is an American producer and DJ based in Los Angeles, CA.[1]

Elephante produces and performs "big room anthem house," and is best known for his unique remixes of songs such as: Clean Bandit's "Rather Be", Calvin Harris's "Summer", Lorde's "Team" and Katy Perry's "Dark Horse.[2] Bloggers compare his sound to Alesso, Dubvision, and Avicii.[3] His alias, Elephante, stems from the dissatisfaction he experienced while working a corporate job, according to an interview with EDM tunes.[4] As of 2014 he is currently signed to Creative Artists Agency (CAA).[5]

Background

Elephante was born in Ann Arbor, Michigan[6] to Taiwanese-American parents on November 10th, 1989. He was classically trained in piano at the age of 8 [7] and is a self-taught guitarist.[8] After graduating from Huron High School in 2007, he went on to attend Harvard University[9] where he graduated in 2011 with a B.A. in Economics and a minor in Music.[10] [11]

Elephante started his music career as a singer-songwriter and guitarist, recording an acoustic EP before falling in love with electronic music. His first official release was a remix of Illenium - "Escape", out on June 12th on Prep School Records.[12] Since then he has created a string of high-profile mixes for artists like: Dirty South, Galantis, Oliver Heldens, and more.[13]

Elephante released his first EP in November 2013.[14][15]
