Exeter monastery was a monastery in Devon, England.[1]

There were three monasteries at Exeter: Nuns; Monks founded by King Ethelred in 868; benedictine monks founded by King Athelstan in 932.[2] Saint Boniface was educated at `Adestancester' in 690, which has been identified as Exeter.[3]

Exeter was sacked by the Danes in 1003, but the monastery was restored by Cnut in 1019. Bishop Leofric moved the united Sees of Devon and Cornwall from Crediton to Exeter, in 1050.[4]
