Farren Blackburn

Farren Blackburn is a British film and television director and scriptwriter. His work includes Waterloo Road, Casualty, Holby City, Silent Witness and more. For his work with The Fades he received a BAFTA for best Drama Series. He has also been involved in the crime series Luther, the movie Hammer of the Gods and the Doctor Who episodes "The Rings of Akhaten" and the 2011 Christmas special, "The Doctor, The Widow and the Wardrobe".[1]

Early career

As a young man he was on the books of Cambridge United Football Club and represented England at youth level.[citation needed]

Career

He has adapted John Richardson's golfing novel Dream On into a film script and will begin shooting that early in 2013.[2]

He is set to direct Naomi Watts in psychological thriller Shut In; set to start shooting in 2015, Farren will direct from Christina Hodson's Blacklist screenplay about a woman who discovers a shocking secret about her catatonic son.[3]

Awards

He won a BAFTA for best Drama Series for The Fades.[4]

Family life

He is married to actress Verona Joseph.[5]
