Summary
The renal blood vessels in arterial hypertension show moderate to marked thickening of their walls and narrowing of the lumina with hyaline, pink, amorphous, homogeneous material focally accumulated in the wall of small arteries and arterioles (hyaline arteriolosclerosis). There is endothelial and muscular hyperplasia, which has been described as "onion-skin" arterioles.
