Summary

A maxilla (upper jaw) of an Albertosaurus, collected in Blaine County, Montana, on display at the Museum of the Rockies in Bozeman, Montana.

Albertosaurus lived about the same time as Daspletosaurus and Gorgosaurus, about 70 million years ago. It seems to have been very localized, and lived only in Alberta and Montana (unlike other tyrannosaurids, which were dispersed over most of North America).

In this specimen, you can see the teeth waiting to come in behind the existing teeth. At least one, and sometimes two, rows remain to emerge.
