Summary

Ballard Locks cleaning.

Press release: Hiram M. Chittenden Locks Small Lock Closure Mar. 12th-Mar. 23th The Small Lock at Hiram M. Chittenden Locks will be closed from Monday, Mar. 12th at 1300 through Friday, Mar. 23rd at 1700, for its annual inspection and maintenance activities. The Large Lock will continue to operate 24/7 and we will attempt to get the commercial traffic through as quickly as possible while still accommodating recreational traffic.

This annual closure is important in ensuring 24/7 operation at a project that is approaching its 100 year anniversary. Much of the machinery and most of the gates and valves are original from 1917. We appreciate your patience and understanding during this time and look forward to having full use of the Small Lock at the end of this closure.
