Summary
A Roman marble with Latin text ("COL IVL AVG FAV PAT BARCIN" short for "Colonia Julia Augusta Faventia Paterna Barcino") about Barcino which is the antic name of the Catalan city of Barcelona. Around 10 BC Roman Emperor Augustus created a colony which later became Barcelona, remainings of the old colony were found during archeological researches.
NOTE: Plaque with the city's name, dedicated to the Barcino colony by the Divus Augustus priests. Dated around 110-130 AD, it comes from Plaça de Sant Miquel. It could have been fixed to a door, possibly at the Divus Augustus College, near the baths, or on the gate. The inscription says: AE 1972, 294 = IRC. 4, 76 = IRC. 5, p 113: COL(oniae) IUL(iae) AUG(ustae) FAV(entiae) PAT(ernae) BARCIN(onensium) IIIIII VIRI AUGUSTAL(es)
