Summary
Sather Gate was built in 1910 as the south entrance to the University of California campus, from Telegraph Avenue. The university has since expanded to the south, and the gate is in the middle of the campus. It was donated by Jane Sather, the widow of banker Peder Sather, who was a trustee of the university.
