The King of Mankon (either Angwafo or Ndefru III) wears a German military helmet and cuirass at a funeral wake in in German armour in British Cameroons early 20th century. This German cultural influence is due to German colonial rule over Cameroon prior to Germany losing its colonies at the end of World War I. The photograph was sought for propaganda purposes by Nazi agents seeking the return of the colonies.
