The official county flag of <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Loudoun_County,_Virginia" class="extiw" title="en:Loudoun County, Virginia">Loudoun County</a>, <a href="//commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Virginia" title="Virginia">Virginia</a>. Blazon: Gyronny of eight ermine and gules, a bordure embattled vert goutty argent. The green bordure represents the county's agricultural economy; the white drops represent the milk of the dairy industry; the embattled bordure represents the <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Monroe_Doctrine" class="extiw" title="en:Monroe Doctrine">Monroe Doctrine</a>. Created by the <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/College_of_Arms" class="extiw" title="en:College of Arms">College of Arms</a> in the <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_Kingdom" class="extiw" title="en:United Kingdom">United Kingdom</a>. It was officially adopted in 1968 by the Loudoun County Board of Commissioners. The Arms are based on those of the <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Campbell,_4th_Earl_of_Loudoun" class="extiw" title="en:John Campbell, 4th Earl of Loudoun">4th Earl of Loudoun</a>, one-time Commander-in-Chief of the British Armed Forces in North America and <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Governor_of_Virginia" class="extiw" title="en:Governor of Virginia">Governor of Virginia</a>, after whom Loudoun County was named. The 4th Earl of Loudoun's Arms are described, in heraldic language, as Gyronny Ermine and Gules.
