File:Former Ardingly Branch Line - geograph.org.uk - 859564.jpg
Summary
Former Ardingly Branch Line Looking down the former trackline of the dismantled Ardingly branch line. Linking the main London-Brighton line with that of Lewes-East Grinstead branch line it operated from 1863-1963 before closing. Part of the line remains in use as a siding for Hanson Aggregates based at the former Ardingly station. Beyond that the trackbed is in the ownership of the Bluebell Railway who took up an oppotunity to purchase the land in the 1990s with a view to reopen the link from Horsted Keynes to Haywards Heath. This part looks back towards Ardingly station from the point where a permissive footpath climbs up embankment.
