Summary
From George Cruikshank's illustrations to Laurence Sterne's Tristram Shandy. Plate IV: The long-nosed Stranger of Strasburg
Illustrates part of a long diversion quoting Tristram's father's favourite reading, a collection of stories in Latin about noses. In this one, interest in the long-nosed stranger's nose draws the people of Strasburg out of their homes, which are then conquered by the French.
From "Slawkenbergius's Tale", the introduction to Book IV, which is also provided in Latin for a few pages.
