Summary

<a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guenther_House_(San_Antonio,_Texas)" class="extiw" title="w:Guenther House (San Antonio, Texas)">Carl Hilmar Guenther</a> (Günther), a German immigrant to Texas, constructed his first flour mill near <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fredericksburg,_Texas" class="extiw" title="w:Fredericksburg, Texas">Fredericksburg</a> in 1851. He moved his business to <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/San_Antonio,_Texas" class="extiw" title="w:San Antonio, Texas">San Antonio</a> in 1859 where he built mills along the San Antonio River. In 1922, this towering grain elevator was constructed and it has become a well-recognized landmark in San Antonio.
