File:Lava and Snow on Klyuchevskaya Volcano 2010-03-19.jpg
Summary
The eruption of Klyuchevskaya Volcano is ongoing. The Kamchatkan Volcanic Eruption Response Team (KVERT) reported gas and steam plumes above the volcano, strombolian activity, and an active lava flow. Photographs taken on March 20th show a pair of lava fountains near the summit. This natural-color satellite image shows Klyuchevskaya on March 19, 2010. The volcanic plume, low-lying clouds, and snow are all white, while a lava flow on the shadowed (northern) flank of the mountain is nearly black. The image was acquired by the Advanced Land Imager (ALI) aboard NASA’s Earth Observing-1 (EO-1) satellite.
