In addition to being the highest peak in the Rocky Mountains of North America, Mount Elbert (14,440') is also the second-highest peak in the continental U.S., behind California's <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/en:Mount_Whitney" class="extiw" title="w:en:Mount Whitney">Mount Whitney</a> (14,505').
