Orson's father was born of Mary's previous marriage. Orson's parents first lived together in Frederick Gottfredsen's house before moving into an apartment in this house shortly before Orson was born. Orson's father Richard Welles was a partner in the Badger Brass Manufacturing Company. His family separated and moved to Chicago when Orson was about five years old. Welles would go on to become one of the greatest film directors and actors of all time.
