When presenting the trophy in 1911, Dr Grorge Sigerson stated: This trophy, symbolic of the unity of our race, will travel round Ireland, visiting the Provinces in turn. It was not until 1958 that this prediction was fulfilled when a winning team from Queen’s University Belfast brought the Sigerson Cup back to his home province of Ulster for the first time.
