Summary

Plan of the ground floor of the <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Palais-Royal" class="extiw" title="en:Palais-Royal">Palais-Royal</a> in Paris as it was c. 1790 after the completion of the Salle Richelieu (which in 1799 became the principal theatre of the <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Com%C3%A9die-Fran%C3%A7aise" class="extiw" title="en:Comédie-Française">Comédie-Française</a>). The plan also shows that the rue de Valois was extended south to the rue Saint-Honoré, through the site of the previous theatre, which had been destroyed by fire in 1781. The modifications were undertaken by the architect <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Victor_Louis" class="extiw" title="en:Victor Louis">Victor Louis</a> beginning in 1781. This plan was reconstructed in 1829 by the French architect <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pierre-Fran%C3%A7ois-L%C3%A9onard_Fontaine" class="extiw" title="en:Pierre-François-Léonard Fontaine">Pierre-François-Léonard Fontaine</a>.
