Summary

The <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Berlin_Blockade" class="extiw" title="en:Berlin Blockade">Berlin Airlift Memorial</a>, at the <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frankfurt_Airport" class="extiw" title="en:Frankfurt Airport">Frankfurt Airport</a>, erected in 1951, symbolises the western buttress of the bridge. It is complemented by a similar structure at former <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Berlin_Tempelhof_Airport" class="extiw" title="en:Berlin Tempelhof Airport">Tempelhof Airport</a>, in <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/West_Berlin" class="extiw" title="en:West Berlin">West Berlin</a> which symbolise the eastern buttress of the bridge.
