Summary
Robert Cecil was born around 1563 as the son of <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/en:William_Cecil,_1st_Baron_Burghley" class="extiw" title="w:en:William Cecil, 1st Baron Burghley">William Cecil</a>, who was <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/en:Elizabeth_I_of_England" class="extiw" title="w:en:Elizabeth I of England">queen Elizabeth</a>’s primary advisor. Robert followed in his fathers footsteps. He became <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/enSecretary_of_State_(England)" class="extiw" title="w:enSecretary of State (England)">Secretary of State</a> under Elizabeth and stayed on under her successor <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/enJames_VI_and_I" class="extiw" title="w:enJames VI and I">James I</a>. He also became <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/en:Lord_Privy_Seal" class="extiw" title="w:en:Lord Privy Seal">Lord Privy Seal</a> and <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/en:Lord_High_Treasurer" class="extiw" title="w:en:Lord High Treasurer">Lord High Treasurer</a>. He died in 1612.
